The Ultimate Collection of LM1 & LM2 Loops

The Lin LM1 is an absolute beast of a drum machine, and since it's quite rare, it can be hard to track down quality samples of it. Luckily, we have two! And after we first created our one-shot pack a few years ago, we quickly noticed a lot of songs on the radio pop up with these iconic sounds!

But while the one-shots are super useable, they don't quite capture the mesmerizing experience of running the LM1 in real time, pumping out impossibly groovy and organic beats. So, we knew what we had to do. We grabbed both of our LM1s, and our LM2, plus some choice outboard gear, and created a super groovy collection of loops showcasing this magic!

Part of what makes these machines so groovy is the space at the beginning of each sample, which becomes longer when a sound is pitched down, and shorter when pitched up. Every drum hit has a different amount of space, and this creates a very unique feel to the machine, for instance, the snare happens later than the kick drum, but the clap sits earlier than the kick and snare.

The other piece of the puzzle is that an analog gate opens up the hi hat samples on the LM1, constantly varying the attack of the hats, similarly to how a real hi hat would vary with each hit. 

 So, we synced everything up, ran it all through our API console, and captured clean beats, but also applied various gated reverbs, filtering, compression, saturation and tape machines, to give these loops the iconic feel we've heard on so many records. These drum machine loops sound more like a classic record than any loops in our collection:
