Custom Drum Samples & Grooves From the Legendary Sampler

96x MPC drum samples and 29 midi grooves created with the legendary MPC2000xl. Drums have been sourced from vinyl and drum machines, filtered, clipped and edited in the MPC, processed to perfection with an Overstayer modular channel, and mapped to your favorite DAWs and samplers.

The Contest Winner

For this pack, we ran a contest - whoever can create the best track using only the MPC2000 Snacks samples for drums, wins an MPC2000XL and free samples for life.

After extensively reviewing 600+ submissions, we spent weeks narrowing down the results, with 7 judges ultimately choosing a winner who demonstrated an expertise in drum programming and music production, and showed off a healthy selection of the samples, while creating a catchy, super musical and understated track that can easily stand on its own regardless of this competition:

The winner, Balanx, is an electronic music producer / audio engineer based in Romania/Europe. In his own words:

"In the making of the track, I've used Ableton Live and a recently purchased Push2 Controller, basically following the learning curve of the Push2. I've started with programming the drums pattern, using the MPC2000 Snacks From Mars, which made me super inspired, afterwards adding various chords, bits and pieces, mostly using Ableton's Simpler device and stock effects (reverbs, delays, autopan). After I had all tracks coming together, I started arranging, automatizing stuff and mixing."

The Finalists

We received SO many outstanding tracks that we created an entire album with our favorites. The truth is, ANY of these contestants could have won the MPC - the tracks are all outstanding in different ways and showcase a wide variety of genres and productions from all over the world.

Each soundcloud track description includes a short artist bio, and information on how they created their track.

The Takeaway

Although the competition was a lot of work for everybody involved, it was extremely rewarding and inspiring to connect with so many producers worldwide, give away an MPC, and hear how are samples are being used in people's music. Until the next one!
